The engine needed some work done on it and the shop said it would be 6-8 weeks before I got it back, so I decided to do a complete restoration on the car.

1st up was removing the engine:

Next was paint removal. Using stripper, I removed every spec of paint and primer. The car  was repainted once (blue) it had been originally red (from the factory.

The new color will be Burgundy metallic  base coat clear coat with a black surrey top to match the black  undercarriage. I am leaning toward Burgundy fenders instead of the traditional black.

The car was advertised as all metal as apposed to the wood body's on other replicas. As you can see from the photos, it is indeed all steel, not a bit of wood anywhere. Furthermore the body was formed, welded, and all welds  were ground down forming a seamless almost unibody effect. I was very impressed with this construction more like a Detroit production than what you might expect. The C.M. Bliss company put their best foot forward with their interpretation of this 1903 presentation. I shall try to re-present it in equally glowing style.

The only rust found was some surface with limited pitting in the floor and some very minor spots along the bottom of the tailgate, all will be taken care of before finishing.

Still to come, a new black canvas top with  burgundy 4” fringe and all black 3”x 26”  tires. The black upholstered seat will be re-used as it is in near new condition.
