Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, very plump cheeks and chin, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, rose blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid gusset-jointed body, stitched and separated fingers and toes. Condition: generally excellent, original body especially sturdy. Marks: 12 (head and shoulders). Comments: Gaultier, circa 1875. Value Points: grand exhibition-size poupee has beautiful creamy bisque that accentuates the dark brown eyes and rich eye decoration, wearing beautiful brown striped silk antique gown with black lace trim, undergarments, early leather shoes, and silk and lace parasol with faux-tortoise handle. 

 

 

Wonderful French Bisque Bebe by Schmitt et Fils, with Miniature Toy Dog

17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head with very rounded plump face, grey glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose-blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners and nostrils of tiny tip nose, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over original pink plaster pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with flat-cut derriere and straight wrists, fine antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Sch 2 (head and also impressed on pate) Sch (torso base). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1880. Value Points: especially beautiful bebe with delicate expression and bisque, original body, body finish, pate, along with a miniature French toy dachshund with leather muzzle and leash.

Grand French Bisque Brown-Eyed Poupee with Fine Early Costume and Lorgnette

Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 12. Comments: French, early period Gaultier poupee, circa 1867. Gorgeous Early French Bisque Poupee Attributed to Bru with Original Signed Wig

 Item Description:
26" (66 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, very full lower cheeks of oval-shaped face, cobalt blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, delicately-painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, arched feathered brows, ears pierced into head, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at hips, knees and elbows, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 10. Comments: attributed to Bru, circa 1860, virtually identical models with Bru signature exist. Value Points: finest delicate complexion with lovely painting of features enhanced by dramatic cobalt blue eyes, original wig with paper label "10", beautiful antique gown with cutwork and embroidery, stockings, leather shoes, and elegant silk hat with maker's label.  

 

French Bisque Poupee Attributed to Barrois

Item Description:
23" (58 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes and feathered brows, rose-blushed eye shadow, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with pale accented lips, ears pierced into head, kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1865, attributed to Barrois. Value Points: brilliant eyes beautifully contrast the delicate complexion of the early poupee. 

 

French Bisque Bebe Jumeau with Rare Incised Marks

Item Description:
22" (56 cm.) Bisque socket head, very deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brush-stroked and feathered brows, rose blushed eye shadow, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, impressed chin dimples, separately-sculpted pierced ears, brunette human hair over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists, lovely vintage dress, undergarments, stockings, leather boots. Condition: generally excellent, 1" very faint old hairline at forehead rim. Marks: Brevete SGDG Jumeau 10 (in large incised lettering, and artist check marks). Comments: Emile Jumeau, 1884, the model was made for one year only, this unusual incised mark being the earliest version of the mark. Value Points: very beautiful bebe with gorgeous eyes, fine creamy bisque, very rare maker's mark.
