Lot: 169. French Bisque Poupee with Dramatic Brown Eyes and Near Mint Body by Jumeau

 17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,large brown glass paperweight inset eyes,thick dark eyeliner,painted lashes,brush-stroked and feathered brows,accented eye corners and nostrils,closed mouth with richly shaded lips,pierced ears,brunette human-hair wig over cork pate,kid poupee body with shapely torso,gusset jointing at elbows,hips and knees,stitched and separated fingers,wearing fine antique brown velvet gown,undergarments,stockings,shoes,and fancy woven bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 6 (and artist checkmarks on head). Comments: Emile Jumeau,circa 1880,the facial model evolved into the early period bebe by Jumeau. Value Points: pristine condition of the wide-eyed poupee,with immaculate original body,lovely costume.

Bisque socket head,very deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes,long painted lashes,mauve-blushed eye shadow,brush-stroked and feathered brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth,shaded and outlined lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden fully jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 7 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau,the very first issue of the tete model which appeared late 1885/1886,this model bearing original dated booklet of 1885. Value Points: the rarity of the premiere tete model,having original labeled box and extremely rare illustrated booklet "Bebe Jumeau L'Exposiiton" with images and story of Bebe Jumeau at the 1885 Antwerp Exposition is enhanced by its beauty and originality,with softest lush original wig,Jumeau earrings,original body and body finish,original chemise,and exceptional quality of bisque and painting.
